Black n' Roses birthday card

Hello !

One last card before flying to France ! This is a birthday card with a lot of fussy cutting !

I made the envelope and the base of the card with papers from the Jet Black stack by DCWV.
I stamped and embossed the roses (Stampendous) with gold embossing powder. And I colored them with my Copic markers.

I stamped the flower bouquet twice, masking the first stamp with paper to overlap the other one.
I also had the perfect stamp matching the black paper for the sentiment !

I will have to shop a little to make some craft in France, so you will have the opportunity to see beautiful French collections ...

Thanks for stopping by and see you in a while...
Take care !

Cards for Kindness part 3

Hello everyone !

This is my third round of cards I made for the Cards for Kindness initiative by Scrapbook.com... You can see the other there : round 1 and round 2.

This batch is made only with papers from the Happy Day stack by DCWV. The only addition to the paper is one happy birthday stamp for this card ;

Of course, I did some fussy cutting for the flowers, doilies and bows...

On the next, I used a edge scissors...

Those cards are pretty simple and quick to make. When you choose a paper pad, be sure to find some journaling cards or cutable elements in it so you will not have to buy some embellishments to complete your projects...

As I will soon travel to France, I think I'm done with cards for now. But be sure I will share with you my others if I'm making more before my departure.

You will find all the informations about Card for Kindness on this page.

Wish you a creative day !
See ya !

Halloween layout

Hello there !

Today I'm sharing with you a layout made with a picture of me and my husband. That is a rare thing...because I'm the one taking picture...This one was taken on a cruise during Halloween week :

The papers came from an Halloween pad by Teresa Collins.  I was not a double sided paper, so I just used two different sheets for the teared paper.
I also cut the center frame with the skull from one of the sheet.

There are many embellishments on this layout... Metal flowers or doilies or leaves, stamped flowers, black bling, buttons, paper flowers...

I also stamped under the embellishments and distress almost everything with black distress ink. The metal embellishments and some of the flowers were paint in black or orange with Impasto paints by Prima, after applying a layer a gesso on them.

I do not have many pictures from Halloween to scrap, so I still have pretty old papers from like 15 years ago... But those are gorgeous !

I know it's not Halloween season (yet), but I'm trying to scrap all the picture I printed this year... and still trying to use my old stash ! I hope you like the result !

See you soon for another project...

Cards for Kindness - Part 2

Hi everyone !

Four more cards made for the Cards for Kindness initiative with another bright paper pad...

Those are paper only cards, made with the Coral and Navy stack by DCWV.

I did few hand cut for flowers and tags, but also use dies for two sentiments.

The thank you came from an old set by Sizzix, and the hello from a word dies set by Tim Holtz.

Such satisfying to use those pretty pad for a cause ! Let's see if I can make few more before sending everything...

See you soon for another project !
And take care...

Birthday layout

Hello !

Back with a new layout with no mixed media involved ! Can you believe it ?

I cut the red frame out of a DCWV Christmas paper, used my Cricut for the big doilie (Mother's day cartridge) and Spellbinders dies for the leaves.

The blue ornated paper is from a Christmas pad too. The tiny phrases from a Tim Holtz Talk stickers book. Nothing new on this layout !

Next time I will show you few more cards I made to send to Scrapbook.com for their Cards for Kindness initiative I talked you about previously...

See you soon then !

Cards for Kindness

Hello there !

Remember the cards I made to thanks people during stay-at-home order ? Well, Scrapbook.com reach a new level in cards sharing with the Cards for Kindness™ initiative !
You can send a minimum of 10 cards with different themes, and Scrapbook.com will distribute them to cancer foundations, hospitals, shelters, retirement homes, children's homes and other organizations in need to be use by nurses, doctors, staff members, counselors, parents and volunteers who add handwritten messages of encouragement and love before giving them to patients, children and other people in need.

So I will send a bunch of them, and here are some of those that I made yesterday :

I used a lovely but retired paper pad by Recollections (Flora Festival) along with few retired border punches and dies. The rest is fussy cutting...

I loved these bright colors and the metallic accents !

They mostly need A2 handmade cads with matching envelope. You can read about this initiative on their website.

I will make few more before sending my package... It's a great way to spread kindness !

Have a wonderful day, and see you soon...

Colors and Doodlings

Hello there !

While digging into my stash to find papers to match a picture, I found a very old lovely but difficult to use paper kit that I really love. It matches perfectly the style I wanted for this picture too (teenagers on it so nothing girly or flowery...) :

The papers and die cuts are from the Lucky You collection by Colorbök. It reflects perfectly the mood of the picture. We went for a ride on a mountain electric scooter and we had so much fun !

I don't know for you, but routine had not change much since the stay-at-home order was lift. Everyone in the house is working on line (work, school, college, even me with Skype hypnosis session !). The main change is the puppy we fostered (Sunny) has been adopted, so I have more time for myself (see Friends for Life for details on fostering or adopting) and for crafting...

See you soon for another project.
Take care...

Sail away with me...

Hello fellows !

What did you do this week ? I had fun baking a little bit (brioche with cream and chocolate chips, meringues, mussels and homemade fries, cream puffs...), painting a little bit (a 48"x60" canvas...), crocheting a little bit (a red crop top for my daughter) and scrapbooking a little bit ! Here is my new layout :

I used the Ocean breeze stack by DCWV to create this layout. I cut out the whale from a journaling tag, because it was so cute !

The shell border was made with a Fiskars punch and that's the until tool I used (beside my trimmer and a pair of scissors)...

I doodle with white or blue pen on the different paper too.

That was a quick layout, playing with layers... I don't know when I will make another one, because we have a new guest in our home since yesterday : a puppy ! We are fostering her (yes it's a cutie pie) until she found her forever family.

So have a great day, and see you around !

Best photo scrapbooking layout

Hi !

Back with a layout this time, made with a paper kit I won so long ago.. I used this kit once on a layout after winning it from Scrap Your Stash challenge. I was inspired by a layout from Rochelle Spears blog :

The paper kit is the On The Sunny Side by My Mind's Eye. I spiced up the background (just a light blue paper) by stamping chevron and dots patterns, and by drawing a stitched line with a red gel pen.

I cut the red circles with stitched circle dies and inked every edges with Vintage photo ink.

Then I added few journaling tag stamped with words from a Florilege Design set.

This picture remind me of a very good time I spent with friends at a mexican restaurant last year. I miss both my friends and the restaurant...

I'm gonna take a small break from craft for few days for two reasons : first I have an public hypnosis session (in French) that I will do on Skype (if you're interested, see the page event), and I will need to work on it. Second I also have a paint project on a huge canvas that I want to finish.

So see you soon, but not tomorrow...

Thanks card with Prima

Hello !

Complete change of style for this new card ! It's more a shabby/romantic style created using only scraps from an old collection of Prima Marketing papers, Tales of you and me :

It was challenging to not use a new paper sheet but only left over papers !
So I cut two corners with a Sizzix die, the ornated frame with another, used decorative scissors to make a ribbon and cut out few flowers...
For the center of the frame, I use two stamps, one from a Sizzix set and the other one from My Mind's eyes set.

Thank you for stopping by today. I have made a layout too, but this will be for another post...
See you tomorrow...

Another Thank you card with copper

Hi there !

As I do like copper very much, here is a second thank you card with the Classy Copper stack by DCWV :

Beside the papers, I only used two dies : the roses and the sentiment. The choice of papers is so very important when you're creating. See how the mouvement of the central square draw the eyes to the roses ? It's also why I love to work with paper pad, because they are matching !

Time for a break from cards, I have almost finish a layout that I will show you later. And I will have a card for tomorrow too...

Have a great day !

Rose and copper Thank you card

Yes, still there, making cards... What about you ? Did you create some ?
Today' card was create with the Classy Copper stack by DCWV :

Layering is sure a great way to use scraps of papers... and I did kept a lot of them !
I just cut out the flower clusters, used two decorative scissors and cut the sentiment with my Scan-n-cut. Very easy and yet beautiful !

Thank you for stopping by today ! See you tomorrow for another card...

Take Care !

Thank you card with (Garden) charm

Hi  there !

Time for your card of the day !

It's a very simple sketch, but efficient. What makes it pop is the fussy cut flowers... All of the papers, including the flowers came from the Garden Charm stack by DCWV.

The sentiment is a stamp from the Oriental Orchid set by Altenew, with Vintage Photo distress ink. I really like the Altenew stamp sets I own, because they are a good mix of images and sentiments (that I could use separately).

Tomorrow I will show you a card, not a square one, with another stack of papers...
Be patient my friend...

Have a great day !

Thank you card with a twist of red

Good day everyone !

Still using the Cherry blossom pad, but with a twist of red this time !

As much as I liked using the Blossom stencil on two other cards, I wanted something different to create a cherry tree branch, and I remembered that I have a die perfect for that... It's an Alterations die by Tim Holtz, from the mixed media collection.
As the central journaling tag has a red bird on it, I decided to use a dotted red paper too. It's a Christmas paper but the goal is to use everything !

As you can see the Thank You die by Heidi Swapp is very handy, here with brown cardstock again.

For tomorrow's card, I changed the paper pad. I choose the Garden Charm pad by DWCV...
See you tomorrow to discover the result...

Have a great day !

Thank you card n.3

Hello !

I'm still working with the lovely Cherry Blossom pad for my cards...

You can see that I used again the Blossom stencil by Art Anthology with pink pencil for the center. I made one of my Christmas mesh ribbon useful to make the sentiment pop. This sentiment was cut from brown cardstock with a die cut by Heidi Swapp. This die is discontinued by you can find it sometimes at Tuesday Morning (oh ! I miss TM so much !).

I made another card with this paper pad, you will see it tomorrow, and I switched pads for another one...
See you tomorrow ? Take care...

Thank you card n.2

Hello again !

Here is my second card, with the same It's the Cherry Blossom paper pad by Recollections :

It's mostly paper layering, except for the sentiment : it's a Sizzix stamp from an old stamp.+dies set.
And two small flowers cut out from a sheet...

Hope you like it ! See you tomorrow for another card...

Thank you cards challenge ?

Hello !

While checking Facebook and other social medias, I did see a lot of dumb challenges. On the other hand, I also saw a lot of posts about making masks. I don't do challenge and I don't sew. But I make cards. So instead of challenging myself in ridiculousness or sewing my own fingers together, I decided to make cards. Not only for doctors or nurses. For all the people that are outside taking care of us. From the stores, the garbage companies, the mailmen and women, the teachers... in fact they're so many we can't count.
So I will try to create as many as I can, and give them to everyday heroes. Here is the first of a new serie :

I am still using my old paper pads, so maybe you recognize this one as I used it on few other projects : I cut out the sakura flowers from a sheet on this layout, and on this one too with other papers.

It's the Cherry Blossom paper pad by Recollections. I also used brown cardstock, a brown ribbon, a cherry blossom stencil (by Art Anthology) with Vintage photo Distress ink and a pink watercolor pencil. The sentiment is cut on brown paper with an old Sizzix die.

I hope it will inspire you to create and give beautiful cards ! Thank you for reading this post, see you tomorrow for another card...

Take care.

Walk in the woods

Hi you !

Another layout made without buying any new materials... This it's a picture from 2016, a rare one with my husband AND one of my daughter :

A good way to use a maximum of papers is to layer them. I think I succeed in this layout ! There is 9 different papers here ! Most of them came from the Autumn Sunset paper pad by Prima, but the grid one by 7Gypsies is older (from my time in the Canvas Corp Brands DT).

For the dark brown and the green, I used washi (We R Memory keepers, so old it's discontinued) and paper tape.

I found cute chipboards buried in my stash perfect for this color scheme. They are form a collection by Prima so old I forgot it's name (doesn't happen often... still have a rub-on from this collection though).

The other embellishment is a laser cut chipboard heart by Bo Bunny, with paper covered with the green washi tape under it.
The title is cut with the help of my Scan-N-Cut. It's three layers of the same cut but in different papers.

This quarantine thing will do wonder for my scrapbooks ! I will have a great collection of pages when this will end...

If you are looking for more inspiration or tips to scrapbook or create with mixed media techniques, don't hesitate to take a look at my YouTube channel BonjourscrapValerie and watch few videos...

Have a wonderful day...
See you soon.

Back-to-school layout

Good afternoon !

I'm almost sure my kids will not return to school this year... A return is planned for the 4th of May in Texas, but I don't see how it will be possible. I just hope we will be able to fly to France for the Summer vacations...
Anyway, I did a layout with a Back to School picture from few years ago, when we were in Aberdeen, Scotland, in full uniform and that is so cute !

I used nothing else than the Wild Saffron paper pad by K&Company , few rectangles dies and a tiny alphabet stamp set with distress ink. If you follow me, you know my love for fussy cutting and spotted right away the hand cut flowers, right ?

Now, I'm waiting for a new paper and ink kit for my Selphy printer so I can continue to scrap without getting out picking up pictures... I have a giant blank canvas (48"x60") waiting for me anyway...
What are you up to these days ?

Thanks for stopping by and see you soon for another project !
And stay safe inside...

Friends : a scrapbooking layout with DCWV papers

Hi everyone !

Still creating layouts but without lowering my stock of papers... Today it's a layout made with the Copper Blue paper pad by DCWV :

I had wood frame from an old collection (Lawn Fawn) that I wanted to use in this layout, and this was the shape I used to create the squares. I wished I had a die for this because it took me a while to cut them all !
The title is a wood sign covered with papers colored a with a Copic marker (B26).

The wood frames were covered with paper too. Can you imagine the knife work ?

What did you create this day ? I will continue to do some layouts this week.So see you then !

Precious Love scrapbooking layout

Hello !

Back with another layout, with a picture taken few years ago in a place I like to go with my family : Center Parc. It's a big closed forest with bungalows arranged around a huge indoor pool complex. Dogs and cats are allowed. We had such good times every time we've been there. Of course, there's no way to go there soon...
So I made a layout to remember these days :

The plan is to use as many as I can of my old stash during this quarantine... So I dig out my Vintage Emporium and Tales of you and me pads (Prima), plus scraps of papers. To match the colors of my picture, I used red and blue watercolors to create directions on the page.

Old flowers (like the Prima Planner Travel's Journal), old metal embellishments (painted), old leaves dies (by Prima and Spellbinders) and old stamps (Finnabair and Bo Bunny).

I have even painted this old flower in blue and splattered it with white gesso to match my layout... And don't forget the distress ink !

It's kinda sad these items are not sold anymore, because they are really great ! If you're lucky, you can find some at Tuesday Morning... of course after the quarantine...

Thank you for stopping by today. See you soon for another project !
Take care and stay home.
