Altered wood frame for Valentine's day

Hello !

Here I am once again with a mixed media project, but more shabby than usual. This altered frame would make a lovely gift for Valentine's day...

I create this project for a workshop I have once a month in Houston, where I teach papercrafts techniques (scrapbooking, cardmaking and mixed media) to a group of French ladies (I can do that in English too if you are interested). We choose to do a frame this month, last month it was cards, the month before layout, and I don't know yet for the next one. Probably layout.

The wood frame was first covered with white gesso before adhering lace all over it. Then I added the embellishments (clay with moulds, flowers, metal...).

Once everything was dry, I applied white gesso over everything, lace included. then I applied inks (Enchanting and Indulgence Minx by Art Anthology) with a brush and added water with a mini bottle spray.

This is a fun and easy project to make for your loved one(s), and you can add any color you like. Or change the embellishments for a different theme. You will find at the end of this post affiliate links to some of the products I used.

Thank you for stopping by today, I hope this project will inspire you to create one of your own.
See you soon for another one !

New Orleans Mardi Gras mask

Hello !

During the Holidays, I went back to France and went to a craft store where I knew I could find some papier mache mask like the one I altered last year in black (see it here) or the older one in turquoise (see here). This time I decided to make one using the Art Anthology products for their blog :

I applied Dazzle clear coat over the black gesso and before painting randomly with Emerald Dimensional Gemstones medium and Mardi Gras Velvet medium.

I also applied some Gold Metal Effect medium for more sparkle...

Once again I used a lot of embellishments... Flowers, paper clay with moulds, mini stones, metal embellishments, plastic buttons, even strings of beads !

Will you wear it for Mardi Gras yourself ?

I really really love creating this kind of project ! I will share my love with you in a tutorial video that you can watch on my YouTube channel, the Art Anthology blog or just here :

I hope you liked what you saw and you will come back soon see my other projects...
Have a great day !

Birthday scrapbooking layout

Hey !

Looks like yesterday I last posted on my blog ! Wait a minute... It WAS yesterday. Man, I'm loosing it. Weather and agndas are changing completely without notice and I am lost in calendar...
Ok, yesterday I show you a Valentine's day card, today it's a layout I made for the More than Words challenge :

This month, the word inspiration is birthday and the creative challenge is two tags.

I got it all ! This picture was taken for the 15th birthday of my oldest daughter, and I slipped two small tags behind her head...

In this layout, I used Vintage Emporium papers (Prima Marketing) with distress ink in Marmalade and Aged Mahogany. I also use the papers with dies : Embroidery doily (Prima), Clock (Tim Holtz - Sizzix) and Valentine flourish (Sizzix).

You can spot also Prima flowers (for example, Cartographer flowers), some laces, white gesso, and stamps (Honey Comb and Mix 2, Prima).

Thank you for taking a look at this layout, and wish me good luck !

You will find here after some affiliate links to the some of the products I used. See you very soon for another project...

Gorjuss Valentine's day card 2

Hello again !

Did you have a great week end watching all the new goodies from Creativation ? Can't wait to have my hands on some...
Back to reality now, with my new Valentine's day card :

Again a Gorjuss stamp (Dear Apple) with Memento black Tuxedo ink. I'm using dye ink because it doesn't smear when I'm coloring with Copic Sketch markers.

Paper came from the Garden Charm stack by DCWV, old lace and rub-on for the sentiment.

You can see another Valentine's day card with a Gorjuss stamp on my blog here. I hope you like them both but which one is your favorite ?

You will find here affiliate links to some of the products I used. Thank you for stopping by today, I will see you soon because I have already few other projects to show you (one is about being organized but shhh !)

Have a wonderful week !

Voir la vie en rose : an Art Journal page spread

Hello !

The project I will present to you today was inspired by two things. First, looking on the technique side, by Birgit Koopsen. Love her bright and cheerful work. On the other hand, by the sight we should have on our lives. The past year was pretty full. Good and bad. Like for everybody else. And this year will be too, even if I hope for the best. What I can change is how I see things. Like seeing the world through rose colored glasses. That is the title of my art journal spread : voir la vie en rose...

I started by spraying ink on the pages, then built the background with stencils (Art is... , tatting, In love),stamps (water droplets, hearts...)and more inks...When I was done, I draw the flowers and the title with a black pen and then use heavy white gesso to cover everything but the designs.

As you can see, there a lot of pink here ! Distress pink, pigment ink, fushia too... I even use a silver gel pen to color the droplet.

I've could use black gesso or opaque dark color paint instead of white gesso, but I wanted to let the background peek a little bit through the coverage, so...

Voir la vie en rose see through pink glasses) is not sugar coat things. It's about choosing to see the good, bright side of life. How will grab 2018 ? Do not let the dark side insinuate in you...

Here is some of the affiliate products I used in this journal spread. I wish you a wonderful day and see you soon for another project !

Purple mixed media canvas about Maths !

Hello !

I'm on the Art Anthology blog today with a new mixed media project : a canvas celebrating the Maths !

How did I end up with a maths oriented project ? No idea... I just wanted to included rulers (Prima Sunrise borders), numbers (Prima Sunrise numbers) and squares, so the maths thing seams obvious...
I used the gorgeous mediums by Art Anthology with their stencils to create the background, and you can also see some tissue tape (Tim Holtz) under the purple.
I added metal gears, wood arrows, circles and diamonds, a metal circle and an acrylic protractor !

You can go to the Art Anthology blog to see more pictures and the moodboard I used to choose my colors, as well as the video tutorial of this project. You can watch the video there too :

Thank you for stopping by today. I wish you a great week end !
See you soon...

Gorjuss Valentine's card

Hello there !

It's been a long time since I played with my Gorjuss stamps and my markers... So I just pulled out one and made a card with it :

So I colored the Gorjuss stamp The Hatter with my Copic Sketch markers before cutting the stamp out. I found in my stash some old paper from DCWV and Webster's pages matching perfectly the colors I choose.

The frame and the sentiment were cut with the Cricut machine and the Home Decorations solutions cartridge.

Are you working on Valentine's cards too ? I think I will make a couple more before it arrived...

See you in few days for a mixed media project for Anthology with a surprising theme...
Thanks fpr stopping by and have a great day !
