Coral Couture card

Hello !

I have a quick card to share with you today. It's a simple layered card, made with the Coral Couture stack by DCWV :

I added some Walnut Stain distress ink on the edges of the papers and with the colors of this stack it gave it a shabby vintage look.
I made another card with these papers, where cream and gold are the main accent, see it here.

Thank you for stopping by on my blog today. Starting the 3rd of July, I will have a giveaway to offer you not one, not two, but THREE sets of Tim Holtz stamps ! It's a video hop, so you will have several opportunity to win along the hop, called Pay It Forward Prize Hop. So don't forget to come back on the 3rd, you will see my project for this hop, the video tutorial, and what the prize will be !

Have a great day and see you soon...

Aim for the moon / An art journal spread

Hello there !

I'm back with an inspirational art journal spread today, with a quote I try to apply as often as I can : Aim for the moon, if you miss you may it a star... For me it means several things : if you never try, you'll never know what you can have ; failure is not always a bad thing ; and you are worth more than you think. So let's take a look at these pages...

I started by applying white gesso on my pages, and then spray Colorations inks in Glorious and Salmon (Art Anthology). Using the Twilight stencil, I wiped thee color off with a baby wipe to create the stars. The moons were drawn with white gel pen and the Pebbles stencil.

Then, with the Triangular stencil and Mardi gras Velvet medium, I create randomly triangle stripes.

I cut out stars of different sizes from papers I create with a variety of stencil and mediums for another art journal spread (you will see it next month...) and  adhere them the the pages. I use white gel pen and black pen to outline shapes.

The final touch is the Wilted Violet distress ink on the edges of the journal.

I may aim for the moon this year, but not today... In fact not until school start again ! Two teenage girls living under the same roof with nothing more to do than to be moody if enough for my summer...

What will be your moon ? Have you hit few stars already ? That's all I wish for you for this starting week !
See you soon for another project...

Polarized effect scrapbooking layout

Hi everyone !

Summertime is here, you will have a lot of pictures to scrap with your sunglasses on. Why don't you try to add a sunglasses look to your layouts ?
The picture I choose for mine is one of my daughter with polarized sunglasses. The picture itself was a little bit neutral, and the only focal point was the polarized sunglasses, so I tried to add the same touch of colors on my page...

As this layout was for the Art Anthology blog, I used their products to recreate this polarized effect...
On a resist paper, I sprayed first Sandcastle Colorations to create the base, followed by a coat of Kona Velvet medium
Can you see the green glare on the sunglasses ? I used the Mermaid Sorbet in the center of the brown for it. And the gold is made with the Vegas Gold Sorbet as a top layer.

Surprisingly, even using the same products, the effect is different on metal and on paper/chipboard !

I really like this technique and I think it really look like a polarized effect. If you like it too, I made a video tutorial on how I worked on the chipboard "Summertime":

Thank you for your time, I hope you like this new technique. You will have to wait two more weeks to see the tutorial I made for a new video hop and the prize that goes with it... Meanwhile, I have more project for you, so don't forget to stop by soon !

Have a great week...

Black and gold Hello card with DCWV papers

Hello crafty friends !

I really have escaped the heat of Houston, I'm back in Spring with the South of France temperatures ! I can finally breathe outside and enjoy a cup of coffee near the pool without desiccating.
I didn't bring any scrap stuff in my luggage, but I did work in advance before leaving... Here is a card I made with the Modern Metallic stack by DCWV, nothing fancy and paper cutting only. Just a simple and elegant card to say hello...

Six different papers and a gold pen is all I used for this card. Those papers are great for cardmaking ! I have another card in my sleeve, but while waiting for it to come on my blog, take a look at the one I made last year with the same stack for a different theme : You&Me card.

I will have a new project on Monday, with a new technique to create a polarized effect with paints (video tutorial too !), so have a great week end but don't forget to stop by on Monday to discover my new project !

Take care.
