Let's finish August with another mixed media project for the Art Anthology blog, one that will completely upgrade a very basic wooden box... I started with a plain book shaped case and ended with a faux leather book !
The technique I used in this project required simple things : a rubber stamp and texture paste, plus few paints.
I first cover the book box with gesso, then only the front cover with Mud Texture paste, that I let dry almost completely. Then I pressed the book cover stamp and remove it carefully. I used the Chocolate Sorbet and the Cocoa Shine mediums to color the cover.
Once dry, I added some metal embellishments, like corners, flowers, leaves and dots, painted with the Teal Velvet and the Copper Metallic from the Patina Texture set.
Using two different shades of brown make the imprint design really pop from the background and gives an antique look to the project.
Really love the Teal/copper combo to create this oxidized look on the metal embellishments...
If you want to re-create this look on your next project, you can watch my video tutorial here or on my channel BonjourScrapValerie :
Thank you for stopping by, I hope this project will inspire you to make something today !
See you soon...
