Canvas Corp hand painted pillow

Hi everyone !

One of my projects has been featured on the Canvas Corp Brands blog yesterday and you can find the complete tutorial to re-create my hand-painted canvas pillow on this post !

You will need Tattered Angels paint, a canvas pillow and flowers by Canvas Corp, book knobs by 7Gypsies, plus a green pen (Faber-Castell) and a stencil (TCW).
I'm not really a sewer, so I used Fabri-Tac to adhere the canvas flowers, and it holds perfectly !

I have a special technique to paint the case without soaking it, so take a look at the Creative Studio's post !

Thank for stopping by and see you soon for another project !

April PPP Prima challenge's tag

Hello !

I know, I'm not use to post on Saturday, but I've create a tag to participate in the April Prima challenge and I didn't want to wait until Monday to show it to you...

So... I cut a tag into a En Francais paper (Prima Marketing). I distress the edges with Walnut stain (Ranger), and stamp a honeycomb design (Prima Marketing) with the same ink.
I use Platinum crackle paste over a stencil (both Prima Marketing), then splatter some blue ink (Tattered Angels), and add a doilie die cut (Prima Marketing).
The Julie Nutting doll and Eiffel tower came from the Merci set (Prima Marketing), and colored with Copic markers.
Few more En Francais paper from the 6x6 pad to decorate the tag, like the leaves (draw and cut from a TWC stencils), lace, flowers and beads (Prima) to finish it.

A close-up...

Thank you for stopping by and take a look at this tag.
I wish you a wonderful week end !

More than words April challenge

Hello folks !

I spent the few last days trying to finish a layout for the More than words challenge, but life (and kids) get in the way and I wasn't able to put the finish touch (always the title...) until today !

The challenge this month is to use a mood picture and the word "escape". I had the perfect picture for that, taken during my Istanbul trip two years ago, inside the harem of the Topkapi palace. I enjoyed so much visiting this palace, and read so much about the harem, my imagination was spinning.

This windows inside the harem is a great illustration of the challenge's word and mood. There was no physical escape possible from the harem, only imagination and intricate plans for power allowed women to escape their condition. Seeing the outside is hope to go out, but don't forget there are more walls waiting for you...

Anyway, here is the layout !

Let's start with the background... The base is a Prima Marketing paper from the Vintage Emporium collection. I added coal baseboard paint (Tattered Angels) by spraying and applying with a sponge. Next I use a stencil (Tim Holtz) with black pen (Faber-Castell) to draw the design around the edges. I apply some Gold and Sun Sisters glimmer mists with a brush around this pattern. then I draw the birds with a mask (Prima Marketing) and colored them with gray Copic markers.
With gold ink, I stamped (Prima Marketing) some scriptures on the black zone. Using a brick stencil, I applied Platinum crackle paste (Prima Marketing) on the black areas. The white grid is a rub-on from Sizzix (was on an incredible sale two years ago, so I bought it...never know when you gonna use something...).
And all of that my friends was only for the background...
Let's take a closer look :

The metal embellishments were covered with Antique Gold high impact paint (Tattered Angels). You can see a grunge board die cut (Tim Holtz) covered with gold crackle paste (Prima Marketing). And I scribbled a little bit on the flowers (Prima Marketing) with a black pen (Faber-Castell).

Lace (Hobby Lobby, sewing section) was sprayed with Sun Sisters glimmer mist with few spots of bittersweet baseboard paint (Tattered Angels) before adhering it with Fabri-Tac. The small black flowers were gold (like the tiny one above the lace), but I covered them with black high impact paint (Tattered Angels) and made a center with Perfect Pearls (Ranger). Those too are glued with Fabri-Tac.
The last, the title, was cut in white cardstock and painted with Sun Sisters glimmer mist (Tattered Angels).

I do like the result. It's a great mix of decorum and dark mood, like the harem...

See you soon for another post...

DCWV Stateside collection home decor

Good morning !

I have two projects to show you today. Do you remember the wood cube I cover with Stateside postcards by DCWV ? I also made two wall decor with this Stateside collection...

This one is made with the Stateside chevron stack, the Stateside sentiment stack and a sheet of cork, all by DCWV. I just add some distress ink on the edges.

This one is made with the heart stack, a cork sheet and a Stateside postcard cut in circle. Each heart was fold in half and distress with ink on the edges and the fold line. I shaped each heart with a paper tool (blossom - McGill) to look like petals before adhering it on the back of the cork flower.

It could be a nice decor to hang in a kid's room, a classroom, or for a party (is that too early to think of July ?)...

Thank you for stopping by !

DCWV rainbow zebra

A little something different today... Let me present you my rainbow zebra, made with the DCWV DIY wall zoo 3D animal and PLAID paints :

I must say that I was inspired by a very special zebra to create this project : the icon of the civic movement Bleu Blanc Zebre, urging citizens to seek for solutions by themselves and to act for their country instead of waiting for the politics to think about social problems.

You may have heard of the founder, Alexandre Jardin (one of my favorite book writer), who convinced Mac Donalds to propose a book in their kids menu in France.

I don't do politics on my blog, but I think their positive actions deserve to be share, so don't hesitate to take a look on what they have already done and what everyone can do to help others.

Thanks for stopping by !

Art journal page : her best ideas...

Hello !

I just realized that I didn't show you an art journal page published in Scrap n'Art magazine in January !
I mixed a lot of products in this page... I started with Party Pink glimmer mist (Tattered Angels) and Marmelade distress inks (Ranger).
Then I applied Black Soot distress ink (Ranger) over the mini grid sketch stencil (TCW), and stamped with Black Tuxedo ink (Memento) some text circles (Hero Arts) and flowers (Inkadinkado).
I also stamped a honeycomb pattern (Prima Marketing) with white gesso (Liquitex).

I stamped the title with a rubber letter stamp (Sculpey)

I colored the flowers, butterflies and bubbles with magenta and sanguine Artist pens (Faber-Castell). And the final touch : Dreamsicle Dazzerl texture paste (Shimmerz Paints) over coffee splotch stencil (TCW).

The pink design you can see in the picture above came from leftover ink on a mask (Prima Marketing) I just applied randomly on the pages.

I think art journaling is all about having fun creating, and I surely did there !
See you around...

April Tim Holtz tag

Hello !

It looks like I'm gonna create a tag every month with the 12 tags of 2016 on the tim Holtz's blog...
I tried to follow every step, even if I didn't have all the required materials... Take a look at the result :

The tag is cut from ivory cardstock with a Sizzix die. I try to recreate a cross-pattern wood floor with an embossed white cardstock by DCWV and inks (Coffee shop mist, light gold paint...) by Tattered Angels. The central design was cut with Cricut and Accent essentials cartridge. The mosaic was created with 7Gypsies papers and Dimensional Magic by Mod Podge. For the other embellishments, you can find : an Heidi Swapp journaling tag, a Prima Marketing flower center, a Tim Holtz chain, and paper tape by 7Gypsies.

Another fun tutorial from Tim... Will do his next tag too...
Bye bye !

DCWV April sketch challenge layout

Hello everyone !

April means Spring, and Spring means flowers, so I choose roses as the main spot for my new layout for the DCWV sketch challenge
The picture was taken long ago in Scotland, in the Dunnotar castle (or what's left of it). this place is incredible ! You can only access by foot because it's a rock into the sea, you have to climb to go there ! This castle is full of Scottish history, take a tour to the web site or to my old post about it.

Anyway, once I found the pictures, I choose to work with the Script and notes stack by DCWV and the 12x12 roses stencil by TCW. I use the stencil on the background with Black sooth distress innk (Ranger) and on pink paper as a template for the cut flowers. This pink roses were colored also with gray Copic markers.

Doesn't my oldest look like a fierce Scottish girl ? I miss the landscape there...

You will have until the end of April to create a layout from the above sketch. Have fun !
