#HoustonStrong card

Hello there!

While everyone is now focusing on Florida where Irma has a destroying impact, I am still stuck with my feelings after Harvey and the massive flooding in Houston. Some houses were still under water until yesterday. The house we were buying was... Houston is now a war zone, and yards have disappeared under tons of demolition waste and trashed furnitures.

I want to focus on good things to cheer me up and to help me create, so I decided to take the Monday Simon Says Stamp challenge because project has to include a star. And of course I tought of the lonely star of Texas. Texas is a strong and proud state, but it's not a lonely one. Massive help and donations came from all over the U.S.. And I have seen a great solidarity between Houston residents during this period of crisis. My sentiment for the card I was gonna made came in a instant : rain or shine, you're not lonely...

I use a white cardstock panel for the base, and apply the Oxide distress inks in Faded Jeans and Fire brick, directly with the pad to form the Texas flag. I sprayed water over the panel to reveal the Oxide effect. It even flooded (!) over my white part !
I added a star punch from white cardstock, and printed text in Playbill font for the sentiment.

Let's take a closer look.

If you followed closely the flooding map in Houston as I did, you know that it look like the Houston's Bayous between the two reservoirs.

If you are on Irma's path, stay safe. Wherever you are, you are not alone. Sending love to everyone...
Bye for now !
